GET INVOLVED

Members of professional associations like NAAEE get the most from their membership by being involved in actively supporting the work of the organization, not just passively reading news postings or waiting to be asked to do something. What do YOU want NAAEE to be? How could the association be more supportive of your work? Make your voice heard! Here's how:

Special Interest Groups (SIG)

Join a Special Interest Group (SIG) that reflects your area of expertise or interest. Share ideas with environmental educators who have similar interests. Sign up by logging into your NAAEE membership account and  select one or more interest groups from the list that appears on your "dashboard." An NAAEE (SIG) is a great opportunity to network and learn more about the many ideas, initiatives and concerns of NAAEE members. You can really make difference by serving as a chair or vice-chair of an interest group, where leaders of the association develop and grow. -more-

Learn about the other types of Committees that facilitate the work of the Association and its members:

CATS (Committees, Advisory Boards, Task Forces, Special Interest Groups (SIGS).  - more

GAIN EXPERIENCE AS AN EE LEADER

Establish yourself as an authority on environmental education by presenting your work at the annual conference and gathering knowledge from other presenters that you can use when you return to your local community. Get in on the face-to-face networking that helps people remember you as a knowledge source when asked about your area of environmental education. Join the Action Network to keep in touch with the latest government legislation that impacts EE providers.

JOIN THE BOARD

Build leadership skills and resume credits by serving on the NAAEE Board of Directors. Employers respect people who demonstrate willingness to give back to their professional community. The call for nominations will appear in the member edition of EEnews each summer. Volunteering on Board committees helps build your knowledge of the association and credibility for your candidate statement - contact the Board liaison for a committee to volunteer.
